In addition, Phlio waterfall is an important historic site. Though in the old days, it was difficult to travel from Bangkok to Chanthaburi, the kings and his royal family had visited this waterfall many times. There’re signatures of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V),  King Vajiravudh (Rama VI), and King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) on the large rock above the waterfall.

As Phlio waterfall was His Majesty the King Chulalongkorn’s favorite place, he made an order to build Alongkorn Chedi (Chulsirachumpoj Chedi) at the cliff area in front of Namtok Phlio.  He also made an order to build Phranang Ruea Lom Pyramid, A brick pyramidal monument, as a memorial to Phra Nang Chao Sunanthakumarirat, King Rama V’s beloved queen who died in a boat accident.
